Merum Priorati wines are awarded the Priorat DOQ appellation of origin. The Priorat is the only winegrowing region in Catalonia with this highest hallmark of quality and is one of only two in Spain, along with Rioja. Our highly prestigious Priorat wines are the fruit of a harsh terrain, an extreme climate, traditional winegrowing techniques and age-old culture.

Vi de Vila
The Merum Priorati collection is 100% Porrera. It bears the stamp of this unique terroir and enjoys the prestige of being a vi de vila.
The Priorat DOQ awards the Vi de Vila ‘village wine’ sub-appellation to wines whose distinctive features set them apart from wines made in other areas within the same DOQ.
Our wines are made exclusively from grapes from the three Merum Priorati estates in Porrera.
This area in the Priorat DOQ suffers the greatest extremes of temperature between day and night. As a result, the grapes ripen slowly, concentrating the aromas and sugars in the berries and creating highly complex wines.
Furthermore, the rugged terrain and 400-million-year-old slate bedrock give our wines their minerality, body, and character.
The Merum Priorati range is 100% Porrera Vi de Vila.

Merum Priorati’s essence, values and mission are reflected in its brand identity. In Latin, our name means “purity from the Priorat,” and for us it epitomizes “wine from the Priorat in its purest state.” The geometric shapes in our logo are two ancient images symbolizing the sky and the earth.
The words Merum Priorati embody our very essence: Priorati ‘of the Priorat’ ties us to a region whose history makes our wines unique, and Merum `purity’ reflects our endeavor to remain true to our cherished roots and ways of working.
The primordial earth underpins our identity and our brand. We honor the earth, we show it our deepest respect, and we give it thanks for grounding us and supporting the vines that bear the fruit we use to make exceptional wine.
